About her

Patsy Larocque

Patsy Larocque (nee Greene)

Born: December 6th, 1953

Passed on: May 9th, 2020

With great sadness we announce the passing of Patsy Jean Larocque (nee Greene) in her 67th year, peacefully at home in Ottawa on May 9, 2020 after living courageously with breast cancer for over 8 years. Patsy was a kind and gentle person who always focused her love and energies on family. Beloved wife of husband Gaston Larocque for more than 46 years, and devoted and proud mother to son Jason Larocque (Tina) and daughter Shelley Lepage (Steve). Cherished grandmother to Charlotte, Jenna, and Jasianne, who were the light of her life and greatest joy. Loving sister to Brian, Bruce (Xuan-Lai), Leona (Roger Chiu) and Warren Greene. Predeceased by her parents Isobel (nee Ritchie) and Melville Greene, and survived by her dear maternal aunt, Barbara Lovegrove. Caring daughter-in-law to André and the late Cécile Larocque; dear sister-in-law to Thérèse Gautier (Michel), Robert Larocque, Suzanne Larocque (Roger Quevillon), Nicole Larocque and the late Guy Larocque. Loving aunt and inspiration to her many nieces and nephews, Lindsay Greene, Tyler Greene (Diana Dupuis), Brennan Chiu, Aidan Chiu, Natalie Deschamps (Daniel), Jean-Michel Gauthier, Andy Larocque, Christal Pound (Dave), Kyle Larocque (Cindy), Marie-Josée Brousseau (Steve Lagardère), Méline Richer (Jean-Francois Simard), Philippe Richer, Martine Larocque, along with 15 grand nieces and nephews. Patsy was fortunate to grow up as part of a large extended family with many cousins amongst the Ritchies, the Bairds, and the Greenes in the Ottawa Valley. Family summers were enjoyed at the Ritchie cottages on Buckham’s Bay, and celebrations were often at Grannie Ritchie’s home in Arnprior. Growing up near Tunney’s Pasture in Ottawa, Patsy’s childhood life centred around fun at Champlain Park and Remic Beach, both just down the street. Patsy and Gaston met and fell in love at work at the Dept. of Public Works in 1972 and were married in July of 1973. They started their family two years later and Patsy happily centred her life around raising their children. As Jason and Shelley grew up, she worked as a devoted caregiver at home to many children over the years, delighting in every child’s accomplishments. Patsy loved reading and the simple pleasures of home life. She had special memories of 12 lovely summers spent at Camping Paris on La Lièvre River, and the wonderful friendships she shared there. For many years, she enjoyed spending time with cousins Thérèse and Gilbert Deschamps and Penny and Clifford Ritchie. Special gratitude for the kindness always shown by Patsy’s long-time nurse, Laurie Marshall. If desired, donations to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada (www.bcsc.ca) in Patsy’s memory would be appreciated. A Celebration of Patsy’s Life will be held at a later date once we can safely gather together again.
